Our client, a market-leading events company, is seeking to hire a strategic Events Commercial Director. This role will be responsible for overseeing and developing all aspects of the sales campaign lifecycle, including sales strategies, lead generation, pipeline management, agent relations, and key account management. The Commercial Director will play a crucial role in revenue management, business development, and identifying new revenue streams. Collaboration with the marketing team and stakeholders from governmental and NGO sectors is essential.

The successful candidate will join an exciting new cluster of event launches. This position requires strong leadership, event launch and management experience, business development skills, and the ability to drive outbound calls and generate new business revenues. Effective management and growth of a high-value sales team are integral to the role.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Sales Strategy Delivery and Implementation: Develop and implement a global sales strategy in collaboration with the marketing team and Event Director.
  2. Achievement of Revenue Targets: Take ownership of revenue sales targets, set individual sales targets, and provide input on annual pricing for sponsorships and exhibitions.
  3. Networking and Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with key accounts, agents, trade associations, and government departments to expand the network and drive revenue growth.
  4. Pipeline Management: Oversee and manage the sales pipeline, from lead generation to sales conclusion, ensuring best practices in CRM and data acquisition.
  5. Agent Management: Grow and manage the agent base, focusing on growth, account management, and revenue protection.
  6. Key Account Management: Manage high-revenue accounts for exhibitors and sponsors, aiming to increase their spend compared to previous editions.
  7. Floorplan Management: Collaborate with the administrative and operations teams to maximize floorplan yield through accurate and consistent updates.
  8. New Sector Development and Competitor Landscape: Identify and implement new sectors for the exhibition component, ensuring event relevance and disrupting competing events.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher education, experienced in a senior commercial role in medium/large scale B2B events.
  • Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of experience in medium to large scale events, including 2-3 years in project and sales management, and 3-5 years leading commercial teams.
  • Job-Specific Skills: Proficiency in event launch strategies, key account and stakeholder management, financial planning, sales cycle management, strategy creation, staff and team management, exhibition and floor plan management, and familiarity with Salesforce.
